MOYO means heart. For me, this track came straight from that place.
I made it after my girlfriend had broken up with me. I put the whole emotional mess into the track: sadness, desperation, love, heartbreak, but also hope. The hope that after some time I would be okay again, and that I could come out of this moment with more self-love and more trust in myself.
I connected that feeling with Zulu vocals, because for me it is one of the most beautiful languages in the world. The result is a track that is emotional, warm and still made for movement.
MOYO was later played on South African radio stations, including East Coast Radio, where it was first featured on Valentine’s Day with an interview from me. Around that moment, more than 5.3 million people had the chance to hear it.
